Welcome to The London Spiritual Mission

The church was built by 3 brothers. Ernest, Percy and Glen Beard after their mother told Ernest, through a trance medium, Mrs Fairclough Smith, of a property he could purchase and build a church.  She described this property as:

“At present used as stables. You will know it because the horses go upstairs while the men live below.”

Ernest found the stables described exactly by his mother.  These stables belonged to the nearby department store Whiteleys.  The 3 brothers purchased the property and our church was erected on the site and consecrated on 19th October 1912.

We are grateful to the many volunteers and the leading members of spiritualism, both mediums and healers, who have served the church over the years. Their hard work and dedication have ensured that the LSM continues to teach the philosophy of spiritualism and offer a place of sanctuary for all who visit. There are too many individuals to mention but a special thank you to Rosalind M Cattanach who managed the church with total dedication for 50 years. She and her husband lived on the premises in the church house and raised their family there.
